Lind M. Crate- Three Poems

shining light

i am blessed with words,
and i hope in turn
i can bless You with them;
sometimes i am sharp as glass
but You remind me
to forgive,
and You've forgiven me when i
have not deserved it;
but forgiving doesn't mean forgetting
some say and yet once You
have forgiven me
You do not bring it up a thousand times—
perhaps, what they mean is to
remember the things that
hurt us to learn from them but naught more
because i know You don't keep score;
thank You for Your example of
mercy and love
i hope one day i can shine as brightly as You
have intended me to.

blessings

we can all be blessings
use our words to create and not destroy
You've taught me the power of
words, and i have fallen in love with them
their echos are something i look
forward to when it seems humanity is
too much;
i know You love everyone,
but sometimes it seems such an impossible
task to bless those who hurt me
and to pray for those whom i don't like
but i do because You forgive me
especially when i don't deserve it—
sometimes i just want to spit in the eye of everyone
who has hurt me but i know You would not
approve and so i swallow back the venom
try to remember You've called me to be different than the
world.

amazing love

You who have made all the colors in the universe
care about us and i find that amazing
such love and such tender care
for a creation so tiny
even when grown we are but a small blue print
in the footstep of the world
yet You know all the hairs on every head and every
name and every desire and heart;
i can't imagine how hard it must be to keep
everything straight—
yet You have never called me by the wrong name
or told me advice that wasn't mine to have,
and i know You love me because You never let me go
even when other people have.

Christal Woodard- Two Poems

                             Happy Days Go By

Worry and sorrow pass us and evil intentions follow,
But that doesn’t mean wrath and hate we must swallow,
The cockeyed evil companion that follows you around like a shadow,
You want to be rid of it but don’t know how:

Well, listen to me and you will find,
That all you have to do is look up to the Heavens,
And bind and pray and confess your sins to the Lord,
And then you will feel a certain peace that has settled on you like a dove,
Then you will surely know that you will
Have peace, love, joy and many a happy day from the Master above!

        Our World Today

    The decisions we make,
    The thoughts we think,
    The words we say,
    All make what America is today.

If we but learn to speak of God
In a respectable manner instead of vain,
Then maybe our Lord, if we pray,
Can make our world a better place today.

Danny P. Barbare- A Poem

Through the Day

As
the
day
lingers
on

wiping
the
countertops,
taking
out
trash

God
gives
me
hope
and
faith

as
His
strength
is
within
me.

Alexi Noble- Two Poems

The Calling

you whisper to me from the very curtains
I hide from your gaze behind
you transform sweeping brocade
until it glows divine white
in the holiest rays of the sun
—sanctifying, sanctifying

and maybe if I reach for perfection
I’ll touch the image you see in my eyes
and maybe if I reach for beauty
I can still walk freely into tunnels of light

The Holy Fire

I battle shadows with a torch
A burning brand, held high to scorch
My smoke-like demons,
Their fingers poised;
Waiting, still, to smother joy—
The vestiges, a red-hot spark
That shimmers, cowers, in the dark

Yet embers heat with deeper fire
Burn hot, burn low, and still conspire
They do not flash
But they endure
Waiting, slow, to ignite soul—
So let the devils chase the flare;
My heart is not residing there

Lela Marie De La Garza- A Poem

HOPE

Right into darkness
Hope brings the dawn,
Parting the shadows,
Glimmering on,

Leading through loss,
And deepest despair;
Showing the pathway
It knows is there,

Finding lost dreams,
Then making them whole;
Hope is a rainbow
Lighting the soul.
