My Mother's Rosary
I dreamed that you were still young
and seeking Mary's intercession,
with unclouded eyes lowered
on fleet fingers that moved as if shelling beans.
And how eager I was to follow your lead,
to echo the decades so dutifully
as answer to our prayers.
